SAP Solution Manager 7.2 · Release Management

How does Release Management differ from ChaRM on the trade-off between dates versus scope?

  • Release Managementfixed dates (development close + go-live), flexible scope (unfinished changes roll to the next release); plan the release before implementing. Result: fewer, more stable production imports.
  • ChaRMflexible dates (import once approved), fixed scope (leftovers go to a successor task list when reusing a phase cycle); implementation runs parallel with independent go-live dates. Result: equal quality, but more discipline must be imposed.
