SAP Solution Manager 7.2 · Change Impact Analysis (TBOM/BPCA/SEA)

What is the SAP Scope and Effort Analyzer (SEA), and what does it estimate?

The Scope and Effort Analyzer (SEA, available since 7.1 SP11) is a tool for upgrade/EHP planning that defines the scope of development remediation and testing, then estimates the effort required.

  • Built on BPCA, it can run impact analysis in simulation mode (estimate scope/effort without first downloading the EHP)
  • Calculates ABAP effort to remediate base-SAP modifications and the test scripts needed
  • Requires a valid SAP Enterprise Support agreement
  • You must first define and Set to Complete a target in the maintenance planner

This is one card from the KnowCard library. The full way to learn it — spaced-repetition review, progress tracking, and AI explanations — lives in the KnowCard app. We’re in private beta now; iOS & Android are coming soon.
