What does an authorization area protect, and how is its assignment determined?

It protects a subtree of the solution structure — assign an area to a structure element, and only users whose SM_SDOC SMUDAREA field carries that area name can act on the element and its children.

Differentiated by solution; the default area is implicit (root + unassigned elements). Area determination is branch-specific — a moved element may inherit a different area from its new parent.
