SAP Solution Manager 7.2 · Business Process Operations

What is the job-scheduling architecture, and what roles do XBP and Redwood play?

  • XBP — a certifiable interface for external job schedulers (they can trigger landscape-wide business processes).
  • SAP Business Process Automation by Redwood — schedules SAP background jobs/BW process chains/Java/OS-level/non-SAP jobs (latest 9.0).

Two architectures: ① SolMan manages the lifecycle + schedules directly via XBP; ② an external scheduler triggers via the SolMan Scheduling Enabler, or Redwood triggers via XBP. Certified: Redwood (preferred), IBM Tivoli, Automic One Automation, CA Workload Automation. Activated via SOLMAN_SETUP.
