SAP Solution Manager 7.2 · IT Service Management (ITSM)

What are the three options for configuring SAP BW for ITSM reporting, and which is recommended?

  • Option A (recommended) — same client as production ITSM; low complexity, centralized config/maintenance.
  • Option B — a different BW client in SolMan; better security but separate technical users to maintain (not worth it).
  • Option C — a fully separate BW system; only for sizing scenarios (keep BW content versions in sync, don't mix data).

Once chosen it's fixed (changing needs SAP — BW data is stored by client/system-specific keys).
